Entrepreneurship and leadership are great teachers. 7 things I've learned the hard way so you don't have to!
1) Everything is temporary.
Success and failure - they're both just moments in time and likely to change. Receive them with equilibrium.
2) You have true control over only one thing, yourself.
Accept it. Embrace it. Focus on insuring you’re "playing" in a way you can feel proud of and live with regardless of outcomes.
3) Be humble during high times and confident during low times.
Things are never as great as they appear or as dire as they may seem. High or low, you're still the same person.
4) What happens below the surface is usually what's most important.
Family, personal circumstances and other external factors, fairly or not, impact how people respond. Be ok with that. Have empathy and compassion for those around you and what they may be going through.
5) Ride the wave(s).
When opportunity strikes, be ready for it and ride it as far as you can. Momentum, "Uncle Mo," is fickle. Be ready when it jumps on your side.
6) Go with the flow.
Currents change regularly. They're usually far more dangerous if you're going against them. Learn to use the currents to your advantage.
7) Hold your vision.
What you are and what you are to become is made up of all the little choices you've made and will make. Know where you’re going so you'll know the right path along the way.
